Turner 250 x Rail 200 Learning Resource

The Client:
This project was a collaboration between Turner Contemporary and The Creative Isle Community Rail Partnership (CICRP) — a joint initiative between Turner Contemporary, Southeastern, and Thanet District Council. The partnership aims to welcome visitors to Thanet and provide a platform for the community through art and creativity. Covering all eight stations on the Thanet line, CICRP’s work is guided by the Department for Transport’s Community Rail Development Strategy, with a focus on community voice, sustainable travel, inclusion, and social and economic development.

The Work:

I worked with the team to design colourful A5 booklets celebrating 250 years since the birth of JMW Turner and 200 years since the creation of the modern railway. Aimed at children aged 12 and under, the free educational resource linked the journey from the train station to a newly acquired Turner painting at the gallery. Featuring creative prompts throughout, it encouraged young visitors to think and engage with their surroundings. The booklet was produced for both print and digital, with a less colour-heavy version also created to print at home. To support promotion, I also designed posters for the train stations and graphics for the website and social media.
